Self Storage Units for Rent

Compare thousands of self storage facilities nationwide.

Quickly Find the Self Storage Unit you Need

No matter where you or a loved one is moving, storage space can be very necessary. SpareFoot.com makes it easy for you find perfect storage unit. When searching for self storage make sure to consider the following:

Check Storage Community - Thoroughly check the storage units and grounds before signing a lease to be sure you are comfortable with the community. Make sure it is clean, free of pests, has reliable security features and sufficient space for your belongings. Check with the Better Business Bureau to see if there are prior complaints about the community and the Department of Consumer Affairs to get a record of their service history.

Insurance - Find out about the loss and damage protection policies. Most storage companies are not responsible for any loss or damage done to your personal property while in storage. Be familiar with what your renters insurance covers and the cost. Some renters insurance policies offer limited coverage of your property while it is in storage. You can also check with the storage company to see if they offer any insurance to their clients - if not, you may need to get insurance coverage from an outside agency. Take inventory of all your belongings to be insured.

Security Features - You definitely want to make sure your storage unit is secure. Make sure the community has some type of ground security like motion detectors, video surveillance, security guards, or alarms.

Access Hours - Know the access hours of the community so that they accommodate your schedule.

Climate Control - If you will be storing any belongings that are heat or cold sensitive, be sure you choose a unit that has climate control. Extreme temperature changes can cause damage to properties such as photographs, videocassettes, and wood furniture.

Storage Fees - Fees differ for each community. Most places will charge late fees and even deny access to your unit if not paid on time.
